19 unmissable PS5 games still releasing in 2026

Sony has highlighted a massive slate of 19 upcoming PlayStation 5 games scheduled to release through the remainder of 2026. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the lineup is designed to give players "plenty of excuses to get a PS5 now in readiness for the gaming experiences to come."

While the blog post promises a total of 19 games, the initial details focus on five major titles launching between late July and late August 2026.

Major 2026 Releases on the Horizon

The upcoming summer lineup features a diverse mix of remakes, multiplayer experiments, and high-profile fighting games:

• Halo: Campaign Evolved (July 28, 2026): Marking the franchise's historic debut on PlayStation, this remake of the sci-fi classic is pitched as "the ideal introduction to iconic super soldier Master Chief." The game features upgraded presentation, redesigned missions, additional weapons, and changes to lore and movement. It will support four-player online co-op and two-player couch co-op.
• Beast of Reincarnation (August 4, 2026): Developed by Game Freak, this action RPG is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan in the year 4026. Players control Emma and her canine companion, Koo, utilizing a hybrid of real-time sword combat and turn-based commands. The PlayStation Blog noted, "Personally speaking, there aren’t enough games out there which blend traditional mythology with science fiction, so it’s refreshing to see Game Freak do exactly that with its impressive looking action RPG."
• Big Walk (August 4, 2026): A multiplayer-only puzzle adventure from the creators of Untitled Goose Game. Supporting up to 12 players, the game relies on cooperative teamwork, singing, codes, and gesturing (using L2/R2 to control character arms). It will launch directly into the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup.
• MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls (August 6, 2026): Developed by Arc System Works, this tag-based fighter features a 20-character roster of Marvel heroes and villains, including Black Panther, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, and Carnage. It supports 4v4 battles, 64-player online lobbies, and features an intuitive tutorial alongside a single-player mode.
• Metal Gear Solid: Collection Master Vol. 2 (August 27, 2026): This compilation includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. It features bonus content like a story and character master book, as well as in-game items for players with save data from the first volume.

Looking Ahead to 2027

While the immediate focus remains on the 2026 lineup, Sony also teased what lies further ahead. The PlayStation Blog noted that "the future is fantastically bright when it comes to forthcoming games hitting PlayStation 5, with the likes of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Persona 4 Revival due for 2027."

Although the blog post promises 19 unmissable games for 2026, details on the remaining 14 titles have not yet been fully disclosed in the initial release.
