Launched on July 7, 2026, Escape from Violet Hold centers on the lore of Vanessa VanCleef leading a crew of outlaws in a desperate breakout from Dalaran’s maximum-security prison while Warden Maiev Shadowsong pursues them. Prior to the launch, Blizzard ran pre-expansion in-game events such as "Prison Break" and "Lockdown!" to award players free cards and rewards.
