A massive overhaul of player-owned houses and the Construction skill has officially launched in RuneScape, delivering on long-standing player requests for more functional and customizable housing. According to a report by MassivelyOP, the update introduces an array of structural, cosmetic, and cooperative features designed to reshape how players interact with their personal spaces.
Expanded Customization and Cooperative Homesteads
The core of the update focuses on giving players significantly more creative control over their housing layouts and decor. Builders can now utilize over 650 new pieces of furniture alongside five distinct exterior styles to customize their homes. Additionally, the update introduces 12 new room shapes, which players can unlock as they progress.
For the first time, players can take advantage of a freeform furnishing placement system, departing from rigid traditional placement limits. However, the specific gameplay mechanics of how this freeform system functions in-game have not yet been detailed.
The update also brings new social and display options, including:
- New utility furnishings to add practical benefits to player homes.
- Dedicated display items to showcase earned skill capes.
- The ability to form a shared homestead with up to five other players, though the exact process for establishing and managing these cooperative properties remains unknown.
Construction Skill and Level Cap Changes
To accommodate the new content, the update introduces major adjustments to the Construction skill's progression limits. For free-to-play users, the Construction skill level cap has been adjusted to 20. Meanwhile, subscribers benefit from a massive progression boost, with the Construction skill cap raised to 120, allowing paying members to access the high-level room shapes and utility items added in this update.
Artifact Storage and Event Rewards
Beyond the housing system, the patch introduces several quality-of-life updates and seasonal cosmetics. Players training the Archaeology skill can access new storage options specifically for damaged Archaeology artifacts. This storage space features upgradeable capacity, making inventory management easier during excavation sessions.
Additionally, players visiting the Sunlight Sands event zone can purchase new sand castle decorations to add to their collection. The update also includes a variety of general bug fixes to improve overall game stability.
