Kingdom Hearts "Deep Dive" Event To Commemorate 25th Anniversary This August

Disney has officially announced a "Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts" event scheduled for August 15, 2026, as part of its D23 fan event. According to a report by Nintendo Life, the presentation is designed to celebrate the history of the beloved crossover franchise.

An official description of the event promises to:

"Join us for a journey through light and darkness as we commemorate 25 years of Kingdom Hearts. Discover how this saga united Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix, with insights from the creative minds, character voices, and more behind the magic."

Commemorating 25 Years

While the event is billed as a celebration of the franchise's 25th anniversary, the timing presents a slight discrepancy. The original Kingdom Hearts first debuted in Japan in March 2002, meaning the actual 25th-anniversary milestone will not occur until March 2027. Despite this, Disney is moving forward with the commemorative showcase a year early at D23.

Attendees can expect to hear from various creative minds and voice actors who have helped shape the series over the past two decades.

A Busy Season for Disney and Nintendo Fans

The "Deep Dive" event is part of a larger lineup of presentations at D23. On August 14, 2026, the day before the Kingdom Hearts panel, Disney will host its Disney Entertainment Showcase. This presentation is expected to highlight Disney's upcoming content schedule, including video games. Additionally, a separate event dedicated to Disney Dreamlight Valley is scheduled to reveal future plans for the life-simulation title.

This showcase comes during a highly active period for the franchise. The Kingdom Hearts series is scheduled for a proper release on Nintendo platforms this October. Furthermore, Kingdom Hearts 4 has already been confirmed for a future release on Nintendo's upcoming successor console, currently referred to as the Switch 2.
