Six Useful Tips to Survive and Thrive Above the Toxic Clouds in Forever Skies

First-person sci-fi survival crafting game Forever Skies has launched on Xbox Series X|S alongside its massive "The Final Echoes" update. Developed by Far From Home, the game sets players above a ruined Earth covered in toxic clouds, tasking them with customizing and piloting a high-tech airship either solo or in online co-op for up to four players. The Xbox release supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing cross-progression across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and supported gaming handhelds.

"Since the early days of our PC Early Access, the game has been shaped by player feedback. Throughout development, we’ve worked closely with our community, listening to suggestions, refining core systems, and expanding the game with features inspired directly by our players."

'The Final Echoes' Update Introduces Key Systems

The launch arrives alongside "The Final Echoes," which Far From Home describes as the title's largest update to date. The update introduces a brand-new power management system that requires players to manage electricity generation and consumption to keep essential machinery operational, alongside a reworked damage system for airship maintenance and protection.

In addition to system overhauls, the update adds over 30 new side quests, new enemy types, combat encounters, and sprawling landmark locations. Environmental variety has also been expanded across all three of the game's biomes.

Official Survival Tips for New Pilots

To help players adapt to the atmospheric hazards, Far From Home shared several gameplay strategies on Xbox Wire:

• Prioritize Side Quests: Completing side missions yields exclusive lore, airship decorations, and powerful devices not accessible through standard progression.
• Manage Beacons: Extracting batteries from location beacons deactivates them, creating a clear visual signal that an area has been fully scavenged.
• Build Duplicate Machinery: Setting up multiple instances of key equipment, like fabricators and water filters, accelerates resource processing and benefits co-op teams.
• Capitalize on Surplus Power: Players can upgrade generators to harness lightning strikes during storms. Reaching "Surplus Status" grants crafting speed boosts, increased resource yield, and faster airship flight speeds.
• Prepare for Combat: Encounters reward tactical preparation over direct force. Utilizing electrical mines, stat boosters, and specific ammunition types improves survival chances against hostile threats.
• Tailor Custom Difficulty: Extensive difficulty sliders allow players to customize or disable mechanics like hunger, thirst, oxygen, and energy consumption at any time. Adjusting these parameters does not lock players out of earning achievements. An accessibility toggle is also available to alter the appearance of giant mantis enemies for players with insect phobias.
