Foretales, the story-driven card game, is available for free this week on the Epic Games Store

PC players can currently add the story-driven card game Foretales to their digital libraries without cost via the Epic Games Store, as reported by Pocket Gamer. To claim the title, users need to log into their Epic Games Store account on the web storefront or desktop launcher, navigate to the game's store page during the promotional window, and select the option to complete the free checkout process. Once claimed, the game remains permanently attached to the user's account.

The limited-time giveaway is scheduled to run through July 30, 2026. The title follows previous promotional offerings on the store, which recently included games such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and Princess Farmer.

Narrative Premise and Mobile Background

Foretales first launched on mobile platforms in 2025. The game's narrative revolves around an anthropomorphic thief named Volepain, who begins receiving visions foretelling the end of the world.

Because the apocalyptic threat directly interferes with his lifestyle of stealing, Volepain sets out to confront the forces behind the impending disaster. Players are tasked with guiding Volepain through these events, deciding whether to actively stop the catastrophic threats or pursue alternative paths along the way.

Card Mechanics and Conflict Resolution

Foretales utilizes card-based mechanics to drive both its narrative and encounter resolutions. Rather than forcing players into direct combat for every obstacle, the card system provides multiple strategy options to handle encounters.

Depending on the situation, players can choose non-violent approaches such as stealth or diplomacy alongside traditional conflict methods. The game features multiple storylines and branching paths, allowing different player choices to alter how the overarching narrative unfolds.
