Capcom says likelihood of a Pragmata sequel is high, citing strong sales and 'appeal' of its main character, Diana

Following the release of its Q1 2026 financial results, Capcom has signaled that a sequel to its new sci-fi intellectual property, Pragmata, is very likely. The decision stems from the game's commercial success since launching earlier this year, having quickly surpassed internal targets.

According to Capcom's quarterly report, Pragmata has sold 2.5 million units to date. Capcom corporate officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi noted that the game's sales momentum "exceeded the company's internal expectations" and confirmed that, as a result, "the likelihood of a sequel is high."

Strong Financial Performance

Pragmata's initial sales contributed to a highly profitable quarter for Capcom. The publisher reported an 81% surge in ordinary profit to $252.5 million for Q1 2026, supported by Pragmata alongside performance from the Resident Evil franchise—including Resident Evil Requiem, which reached 8 million sales.

In its financial documentation, Capcom stated it remains "on track" to achieve its full-year forecasts of ¥210 billion in net sales and ¥58 billion in net income.

Looking Ahead

While Capcom executive management confirmed a high probability for a follow-up title featuring protagonists Hugh and Diana, no formal announcement regarding a production timeline, greenlight status, or platform availability has been made yet.
