The MOP Up: Warframe recaps the reveals of TennoCon 2026

Digital Extremes showcased the future of its flagship titles during TennoCon 2026, headlined by a major upcoming expansion for Warframe and significant gameplay reveals for Soulframe.

Warframe Expands to the Tau System

Scheduled for release later in 2026, the "Tau" expansion introduces a second solar system to Warframe, complete with a new enemy faction and long-term additions designed to carry the game forward.

"Tau is certainly the biggest shift for Warframe ever, we're adding a full second solar system to explore and have new stories coming," said Warframe Creative Director Rebecca Ford in coverage reported by IGN. "When it came to building up Tau, what we basically asked ourselves was, 'How do we keep Warframe going forever?' And the answer to that was to add a second solar system to the game. 13 years later, you can build up all over again, give the players more, and start planet by planet, moon by moon. and object by object. And there's so much more to come."

Key features revealed for the Tau expansion include:

• Fornax Hub Zone: A gloomy, cyberpunk-style megacity hub combining open exploration with procedurally generated zones. It incorporates flying mechanics alongside underground activities such as slot machines.
• New Warframe (Brysko): A self-aware gunslinger "Chimera" Warframe with a distinct personality who narrates exploration beats and uses playing cards as weapons.

Digital Extremes also announced several interim updates leading up to the expansion. Players can acquire the Orokin Vessel ship now to prepare for the journey to the Tau system. Upcoming updates include the "Iceblade of Narin" story quest featuring a new Ice-elemental Warframe, the "Amir’s Shockwave" update for Nightwave missions, gameplay reworks, Deluxe versions of Qorvex and Banshee, and a crossover Excalibur skin heading to Fortnite.

Soulframe Unveils New Voice Cast and Features

Digital Extremes provided updates on Soulframe, its upcoming fantasy action-MMO currently in its Preludes alpha testing phase.

A new fable mission titled "Warsongs" is scheduled for release this Fall, focusing on the player character's origins and the antagonist Tempest Bayor. Actors Ben Starr and Jennifer English have joined the voice cast as Tempest Bayor and the Empress of Eldveil, respectively.

Upcoming Soulframe additions include the Vadagar Pact system—which allows players to adopt corruption and dark powers—as well as wolf mounts, a snake sword weapon called the "Coiled Dawn," a "Vegan Fishing" mini-game for gathering wildlife intel, and a new boss encounter against the shadowy knight "Mendicant Reinbreaker."
